I decided to go back in time a bit to when I was 21 and took a cruise for my birthday to Bazaruto island in Mozambique from Durban SA. The cruise took four days, and we were only on the island for a short while on one of the days, so I found that after a while it got a bit monotonous on the boat and for me four days was definately enough.
I was wondering around the island when I saw these two fishermen in the shallows.
scanned from neg, I know its grainy, but I think it gives an old fashioned sort of feeling.

the B&W really adds a lot to the wonderful picture. You`re right, it looks grainy, but that`s maybe the best thing about the picture, since it transmits an old feeling, and I really like it. Nice composition and good point of view, thanks for sharing!

I see that you had a very good understanding about the composition already 10 years ago, I like a lot how you have placed the fishermen just under the island in the distance, I find it nicely emphasises the emptyness of the rest of the frame. I don't mind the grain, it definitely adds a timeless quality to the shot. very nice work, I like it a lot.
with best regards,

The compo is minimalistic and an efficient one too... The B&W conversion gives grain, which works well here in giving the older days feeling...
Good work from a while ago!

Hi Wanda, you've become such a rarity these days that i actually look forward to your posts and this one delighted me immensely. I like the way you have set up the wide shot and have crafted a painting like scenario

Very interesting this black and white composition. Dood composition with the boat and fishermen. I also like the grain in this 'old' picture
TFS and have a nice week

I hope you found during this trip what you were seeking back at age 21. At least you brought some nice image through the time tunnel, althought the scanning did certainly do its toll. The grain of the B&W is a good one. For some reason it fits with the old monochromatic photographing mood. I see that you had already back then a good photographic feeling for the right compositional. The way out, off center is perfect. the panormaic crop enhanced that feeling even more!

a pic full of tranquillity. I esp. like that the both fisherman, their boat and the island in the back form a symmetrical structure, like a house, which is placed off center in a beautiful position.
Good one !

Its a beautiful picture, Wanda. You did a nice work, capturing it very well and well processing it with some nice artistic touch. Well done!
