This is a village on the Bay side of Pemba, not the beach side. Pemba Bay (Port Amelia on the marine charts)is not to be confused with Pemba Island north of Zanzibar. Pemba Mozambique lies 100 miles south of the Tanzanian border. Pemba is the capital of Cabo Delgado, the most northerly province of Mozambique. It is a pretty palm-roofed coastal town built at the mouth of an enormous natural harbor (the world's 2nd largest). On the opposite side of the mouth, 2.5 kilometers distant, is Londo point, an unspoilt, undeveloped shoreline populated with giant boababs, elephants, antelope, and leopard. Untouched by the outside world apart from the lonely green lighthouse.
Not the ideal destination for the international traveler seeking comfort and efficiency, it does, however, provide a challenge to the intrepid adventurer wanting to discover a part of Africa still unspoilt. It's one of those towns where the classy restaurants are the ones that you won't need to bring your own toilet paper. If you like untouristy, this is the place. |

Hi Sylvia,
I like very much this panorama of the village in Mozambique for his documentary side. This choice is quite my nature. i should do the same.It has all photographic quolities.
Best regards and wishies from Belgrade
Good note, good light and a rarely seen location on this site, the presence of clouds fill the top half nicely, well documented, there seems to be a total lack of .....electricity related pole and cable pollution , nor plastic, this could have been taken a generation ago.
The village of Pemba is "for me".. ( I lives and visited Mozambique several years (1956-1981) one of the most beatifull cities of the western Indic..
