[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Le site d'Essaouira sert d'escale aux Phéniciens dès le VII° siècle av. J.-C. et Juba II y développe la fabrication du pourpre au I° siècle av. J.-C. Les Portugais y établissent une tête de pont commerciale et militaire dès le XV° siècle qu'il baptise Mogador. Toutefois la ville est véritablement fondé vers 1760 par le sultan alaouite Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah (Mohammed II) qui décida d'en faire une base navale.
Cette squala (batterie) a été édifiée dans le style des forteresses européennes entre 1760 et 1764 pour protéger la ville par Théodore Cornut (architecte avignonnais) à la place du Castello Real place forte construite par les Portugais vers 1505.

Hello Gerard,
A very good perspective along the sea wall with the cannons receding slowly into the distance. Good contrast between the two halves of the image. The man walking along provides a good sense of scale. Very good colours and clarity.

Great composition and POV. I really like the repeating pattern formed by the canons and notches in the wall. The lighting and colors are great with outstanding sharpness and DOF. Your f-stop setting creates a very large DOF giving us a crystal clear view of the fortress and surrounding area.

Voilà un cliché très intéressant. La perspective grandiose donne un effet extra à l'ensemble de cette squala. On a une vue sur la défense et sur l'environnement qu'auraient les assaillants. Beau travail.
