[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
we had just left the much-photographed tanneries in Fes when I noticed that almost all surrounding buildings were "decorated" with hides drying in the sun (slightly different view in WS).

although not as colourful as traditional photos from these tanneries, this scene instantly captured my attention - the perfect symmetry and pastel colours provided a stark contrast with what we've seen just moments ago.

Nice shot Kristine, love the natural tones and textures. Also that little splash of colour provided by the bush. TFS, Roberto

I like the shot: the paralels of differently colored hides and the splash of green in the top-right corner, balanced out by the small growth in the top left corner. Nicely captured!

Best,

From the thumbnail I had no idea what this was but I when I opened it up I was pleasantly surprised. I love the colors because they all seem to be mostly of the same hue but slight changes in them all. The windows and the flowers break it up very well.

Hello Kristine,
Your framing of this shot is phenomenal. I find the color added by the bush and the yellow flowers perfectly accentuates the muted tones of the rest of the frame. Wonderfully done.

I also appreciate the fact that you are providing images of a rather poorly documented piece of culture. For me, at least, this is the first I have seen such intriguing portrayals of this part of Moroccan culture...

I guess I need to get to Morocco...LOL

A startling, unusual decoration on these houses and i like how you took this shot, with gorgeous earth tones and perfect design with these stark dark windows, even yellow flowers on the right upper part. Love this shot, a very nicely seen, perfectly framed one, Kristine!

Hello Kristine
I like the way you framed the shot, with the windows at two levels & the curtain' like hanging hide in between. Love the tones, earthy & brown. Placing the flowers at the top right was an excellent idea. A picture full of little details. Very well done!

Hi Kristine,
What a wonderful shot! With this picture, you give us a different image of Morocco. Instead of the usual colorful buildings we see here a paler, smoother palette of tonalities. The decoration of these houses is really amazing. I love the little windows, all different in structure and ornaments. The flowers hanging from one of them brake the homogeneity in that wall. Very beautiful. Thanks.

Kristine, this, I think I like even more than your first shot from the tanneries. The muted natural tones in both the hides and the wall harmonize really well, making for a good photo. But of course, its' the repeating patterns you spotted that give it interest, rather than color. However, the yellow splash of color in the flowers lends a sense of "scale" in color, in much the same way an ordinary object might lend a sense of size. Good call to include it.

I like this Kristine. A very original view of the tanneries. Really detailed with good composition and great color. Very nice. Good eye to compose this.

...and looking at your portfolio and reading your intro - you have a few more deserts to go. I suggest the Rub al-Khali first, maybe the Kalahari or Gobi next, than the Mojave maybe...a good start.

Great work.
John
