Craig, I think this is a good try but you haven't given yourself a fighting chance by shooting (apparently) around midday. The colour of the sand is a little uninspiring and there's little in the way of shadows to accentuate the contours of the dunes and give depth to the shot. If you had shot exactly this view at sunrise or sunset, the sand would have been deep orange and there would have been dramatic shadows. I guess you can't always control what time of day you can be somewhere, and maybe I'm just telling you stuff here that you already know, but the great desert shots are mostly taken earlier or later in the day.

Spectacular capture. It is the timing and you decide to make it simple with 2 things in the frame and they do marvels. Great. I guess contrast could be used a bit more. But thats only my suggestion.

Hello Craig,
this is also a great shot. It has a very strong graphical structure which is of great simplicity. I like the contrast between the desert sand and the blue skye. Colours are also very nice.
Cheers
