It's a pleasure to stroll around the small streets of the medina of Essaouira.

________________________

The Medina of Essaouira (formerly "Mogador") is a UNESCO World Heritage Listed city, as an example of a late-18th century fortified town, as transferred to North Africa.

The fishing harbour, suffering from the competition of Agadir and Safi remains rather small, although the catches (sardines, conger eels) are surprisingly abundant due to the coastal upwelling generated by the powerful northeastern trade winds.

Tourism is a quite important industry, supporting a growing small-hotel "Riad" business within the traditional architecture of the old city, and small handicraft businesses such as cabinet making. The thuya wood carving is one of the typical hand crafts Essaouira has been famous for for centuries.

Nice composition. It's interesting how the colors of the clothes of the man match the colors of the walls. Regards, Yvonne

Hallo Luca!
A beautiful little bit mysterious photo with a wonderful atmosphere. The light in this lane is caught in a very impressing way! Thank you for showing this!
Greetings from Germany!

Hi Luca
This picture is interesting for the frame, the light in the lane. It's for me a shame that this old man couldn't be from front.
However i like this atmosphere

Nice work, very simple and mysterious composition. The low POV makes everything seem much bigger and harsher against the stooped, soft posture of the figure.

Great shot!

Hello Luca,

I was there last Friday, and so memories are still fresh in my brain: I know that it is not easy to get a good picture like this one: Man caught at the right place, his foot with yellow babouche caught walking, the two yellow arches are splendid. - Izzet
