Photographer’s Note
Well... the main part of this picture is self-explaining, I think, so I rather tell something about Essaouira itself.
Essaouira has the nickname Wind City, Africa, because of the steady winds blowing all over, which leads to a very clean and refreshing breeze almost all day over. It was designed by a french architect, who tried to mix Berberen culture with french architecture. What came out is a pearl of design...
Further Essaouira is known for its wood-inlay-works, so on almost every edge you can find chess boards, little boxes,... also musical instruments are quite often to be found.
P.S. Also here it's 100 views now, and still no critique... please: I don't mind negative critiques, if you don't like the picture, just tell me what I could have done better. Thanks!

I read your intro and see you are appealing for critiques on unrated photos. I can't see why no critiques in this instance as there are far worse pics on TE. Possibly all the ropes make it a bit too busy and make it difficult for the eye to settle. Generally it isn't a bad shot and the inclusion of the flying gulls enhances the scene.
I find that the more active you are on this site the more returns you get. Personally by the time I have looked at the first 2 or 3 pages of the gallery I have used up my critique allocation so earlier posts are overlooked. It's surprising how you come across the same names just because they write more,

What a interesting view, Bertolt! Crowded harbour! I can imagine how difficult is to take one single boat out in this conditions. Nice shot. I like also the POV and DOF!
abraço!

Hallo Bertolt,
No many critiques for this photo, maybe because it has nothing that set it apart. It's a nice, busy fishing port scene, but it could be almost anywhere in the world; even names or flags are not visible on the boats.
About Essaouira, we may add that it was one of the Portuguese possessions in Morocco, when it was called Mogador; in 1506 the Portuguese built the Royal Castle of Mogador.
