VIEW FROM MARRAKECH
view from Marrakech II
Jamaa el Fna (Arabic: ساحة جامع الفناء jâmiʻ al-fanâʼ, also Jemaa el-Fnaa, Djema el-Fna or Djemaa el-Fnaa) is a square and market place in Marrakesh's medina quarter (old city). It remains the main square of Marrakesh, used by locals and tourists.
Jemaa means "congregational mosque" in Arabic, probably referring to a destroyed Almoravid mosque. "Fanâʼ" or "finâ'" can mean "death" or "a courtyard, space in front of a building." Thus, one meaning could be "The mosque or assembly of death," or "The Mosque at the End of the World". A more likely explanation is that it refers to a mosque with a distinctive courtyard or square in front of it.

The most charming, adventurous, typical square of the world, old orange buildings at the back and a carriage to add life and contrast at the capture
What I like of this square is just what you said the natural mix of locals and tourists
Add at the theme"Horses in the world"
Congrats and tfs

What a fine old carriage, a perfect subject to photograph, especially set in the city like this. It looks like a very well kept vehicle too, in great condition as it waits for customers to show the sights. Nice moment well captured,
Thanks as always

The reddish colours of the buildings let me know immediately this is Marrakech.
A beautiful and very colourful atmosphere picture of the famous square.
It must have been hot when you took the picture. I've been there also once in July (and much later a second time in April).
Best regards, Paul

Nice picture showing the horse rider. This type of horse riders also available in India which is called "Taangewala". Colours are good. However the picture a little blurry in back ground.

Ma ville préférée du Maroc. J'ai moi même utilisé une carriole à cheval pour revenir à mon hôtel à partir de la place Jamaa el Fna.Quelle belle journée j'ai passée.

This is a fine photo from Marrakech. The colours are excellent and the exposure is perfect. The horse-cart will probably not be empty much longer, considering the number of tourists visiting Marrakech, and this famous square in particular.

The buildings are colorful. There are two horses drawing the carriage. It's a good idea to ride on the carriage and tour the city.

The typical street scene which is always lively with the trademark colour in the bg, a charming quintessential Moroccon which seems to carry the sense of great age. The lighting, vivid details, colour and your subtle processing make this a very special image along with the horse carriage as strong subject of interest. Great capture, TFS

Your trip to Morocco has been very good. certain of the photographs. a picture of this beautiful and moving through life.
ikeharel (65281) 2014-07-12 10:45
Taken the moment beautifully.
The horse and carriage employ most of the scene, and with the long building on the BG created a good sense of depth and contrast.

certainly not the type of scene that i'd be expecting to see from Morocco!
this must be a ride for the tourists?
seems a little bit out of place don't you think?
glad you captured it though.
enjoy your day

This is a pretty carriage in traditional Moroccan colors. Did you get to ride in one?
