Photographer's Note

It had to come, hadn't it ..?
This is the classical view from the working fishing harbor towards the Medina of Essaouira perched on a ramparts of the raging ocean. Between the port and the Medina is a vast empty space, strangely named "Place Orson Welles" after the author and filmmaker filmed his "Tragedy of Othello" here in 1952. Today the square is home to numerous stands, selling fresh fish, grilled on site for the tourists.
