The Mellah, the old jewish quarter, in Essaouira is a labyrinth of small and deserted alleys and trough passes where one seldom encounters an other soul, quite to the contrary to the busy souk and main street, bustling with life.

At the outset, congratulations on your 300th post (probably the photo before this one). The two old doors in blue and green appear to be in dialogue with each other. I like the composition, and the handling of light in this difficult case... where such stark differences in light and shadow exist. I place the photo in the group theme Old Doors.

Very weathered walls! Also doors that must endure the test of time but at the same time they're strongly coloured and in a nice contrast with each other.
A very good composition and a pretty corner in the old town.
Best regards, Paul

Salut mon cher Daniel
It is these streets and lesser known corners that we all seek. You have found a very characteristic and fascinating part of town. I love the vivid colours and textures. The play of light and shade adds to the atmosphere and character, as does the tight frame. Excellent work, what a marvellous place Morocco is, I am even more convinced of that after seeing your photos.

I planned to comment on your recent boat series, but I found myself returning to this one today...it's 'right up my alley' in terms of rustic wear, textures and colors. I can't quite put my finger on it it, but as I look at this picture, I'm expecting someone to round that corner at any moment. That's some tough light to handle too, but you've done well under the suns glare to minimize the damaging effects and show plenty of detail. Again, not sure why, but a sense of mystery exists here,,,kind of that Indiana Jones sort of anticipation. :) Have a great week ahead. All the best.
