A CURIOUS BUILDING, a photo from Fes, North

Photographer's Note

This building was a place where members of a caravan used like a lodge while in Fes. The products were stored and sold in the lower part while people sleeped in the upper areas. Nowadays this building is Nejjarire museun where we can find artifacts of wood.

Este edifício era usado para alojar caravanas quando vinham a Fes, a parte inferior era onde as mercadorias eram estocadas e vendidas e os membros das caravanas se alojavam nos andares superiores.Hoje o local abriga o museu Najjerine que exibe artefatos de madeira.

Dear Jorge,

I guess that's what caravan-serails are for, the lower floors are used as stables for the caravans, while higher floors -in some cases- were used as hotels.

But I must confess that looks like a 5 star caravanserail. :-)

I might suggest using gradual toning for the upper part.

Hello Jorge,
Last year I've also visited this museum. It's really a wonderful building and well restored.
31 years ago I was also in Fes but then nobody suspected that next to the most famous fountain of the old town there was such a beautiful building. It was almost a ruin and locked for visitors.
So last year I discovered how beautiful and richly decorated the interior is.
The picture shows it well in this vertical format with a nice alternation of the brown wooden parts with the white walls and columns.

The shooting angle and framing are well worked out with some impressive elements and the depth can be felt in soft lighting and shadows that convey the overall feel of yester years. Must be a very busy place then. Fine architectural splendour, functional, so well maintained and preserved. This is an appealing shot of an historic sight. Great shot and I like the contrasting colors, Well done.
