Located in the Dades valley (south of the Atlas mountains) between Ouarzazate and El Rachidia, this shot was made from a Kasbah in the middle of the Skoura palm trees.
This is a shot of the Ameridhil ksar. “Ksar” in Morroco is a bunch of traditional houses called "Kasbah" which are made from natural elements especially clay materials. Their maintenance requires a lot of work and energy from their owners, especially after rains. Of course, it does not rain a lot in this area. When I was there, I was told the 2 days rains were among the biggest for the past 30 years… Now, these clay buildings tend to be replaced by concrete buildings even in these valleys.
This is a shot from a serie taken with a 420 mm equivalent optic through a tiny window. I found this one really interesting because this was the very unique shot were the clay surface of the Ksar had a chance to catch the sunlight from this early rainy morning. I also do like the various elements (foreground, subject and Atlas mountains in the background captured) in the same shot. It gives a good picture of this wonderful place to my mind.

Very informative picture, it reveals much about your main subject's enviroment. Perhaps a polarizer would have saved your picture from containing some harsh colour toning, but I like it anyway :-)

A great shot. I love the architecture of the buildings and the rich green colours in the foreground. I did a WS to help focus more on the buildings. Good notes. Thank you for sharing this picture.

Nice shot, and beautiful composition. You captured perfectly the atmosphere of the Atlas.
The only thing .... IMHO Ill crop some of the palms in the foreground. They tend to distract from the main theme.
Pls have a look to my portfolio.

Très belle et intéressante composition. Les toitures des "kasbah" qui ressortent de la végétation pour faire partie du paysage, c'est très bien réussi. You did a great job Steven

Avec un 420 mm la perspective est compressée, ce qui donne l'impression que la montagne est toute proche.
La lumière frisante donne du relief à l'image, cela agrémente parfaitement la composition.

What a landscape! And I who dreamed to see palm trees, I am served. A very beautiful composition with a magnificent light without speaking about colours which are magnificent. A great, great shot!
Quel paysage! Et moi qui rêvait de voir des palmiers, je suis servie. Une très belle composition avec une lumière superbe sans parler des couleurs qui sont magnifiques. Une grande image.

You have captured a majestic scene, Steven. I like the depth provided by the palm trees in the foreground and the mountains in the distance.

This really is a nice landscape photo! It all blends perfectly. It's very nice to see how the human hand arises in the middle of such magnificent nature.
The building is fabulous and is very well captured because the details are very vivid.
Points will be served later.
