Traversing through the narrow pathways of Djemma el Fna’s souks, I noticed that local people devised a way to protect them from the harsh light. They put together wooden strips and thin canvas(?) over it. It created a shadow- reflection of lines artistically casting its pattern in the pavement. I positioned myself in the textile section hoping to catch a colorful milieu of people and the “wares” on display. As I was with a group tour, I couldn’t afford to stay long so I clicked here and there. This is the best that I could capture… “strips of light sent from heaven”.

You have some extraordinary lighting in your photo, Manny! Very well seen!

Very unusual image. Amazing that you got it in a grab shot. Good timing to capture the ladies just as they were walking through the streak of light. An excellent graphic element is the lead line of brightly coloured fabrics pointing toward the walkers. Well done!

That's cool! For someone who clicked here and there, you made a really good composition. There is a lot of stuff in the background that could be distracting but the subject matter being so full of light we can almost forget about the background. Out of points for today, sorry.

This is great, Manny. You have coped well with contrasts in light that are unique to the souks. I like the strong diagonal element.

Yes, the photo is wonderfully balanced by the diagonal. Very well seen and composed. Fiesta of light and color! Thank you.

Nice photo, you captured the light quite well in this shot. The souk in Marrakech is so nice. In 1992 , I stayed for two weeks in this city, I just loved every moment of it.
The nice thing here is the opposition of the women on the bottom left and the hangings on the upper right of the picture. It's very well done.

Really super work, Manuel. This really gives us a flavor for this place, and those streaming colors are really interesting and fun to explore.

Good image, I wonder how these women feel under such heavy attire in the middle of summer. I expect these canvas covers do provide some protection and welcome shade. The colours, strips of light and shadows work very well...

This is another successful picture of yours. You have an amazing eye for colorful scenes, I like it. I do think that it's slightly too bright, I wonder if a different time of the day, or maybe underexpose it by 1/3 of a stop, could have solved it.

Excellent shot with very good exposure and lighting. The timing is spot on with the women passing the lights which are falling through the roof. The colourful sheets adds a lot of colours to the scene.
