Photographer’s Note

The Koutoubia Mosque (Arabic: جامع الكتبية‎) is the largest mosque in Marrakech, Morocco. The minaret was completed under the reign of the Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184-1199) and was used as model for the Giralda of Seville then for the Hassan Tower of Rabat.

The name is derived from the Arabic al-Koutoubiyyin for librarian, since it used to be surrounded by sellers of manuscripts. It is considered the ultimate structure of its kind. The tower is 69 m (221 ft) in height and has a lateral length of 12.8 m (41 ft). Six rooms (one above the other) constitute the interior; leading around them is a ramp by way of which the muezzin could ride up to the balcony. It is built in a traditional Almohad style and the tower is adorned with four copper globes.

According to legend, they were originally made of pure gold, and there were once supposed to have been only three. The fourth was donated by the wife of Yacoub el-Mansour as compensation for her failure to keep the fast for one day during the month of Ramadan. She had her golden jewelry melted down to flab the fourth globe.

The minaret of the Koutoubia was the model for the minaret of the Giralda mosque in Seville which in its turn has influenced thousands of church towers in Spain and Eastern Europe.

De nouveau un chef d'oeuvre du travail HDR, je trouve que l'architecture de la Koutoubia se prête très bien à cette transformation.
Je pense que du devais être en hauteur sur une terrasse pour prendre cette photo ?

Ciao Luciano. Buona scelta compositiva che evidenzia le propsettive e l'eccezionale dettaglio sui fregi della torre. Stupendo il cielo. POV frontale rispetto allo spigolo della torre....a me sembra un po' storta verdo dx.

Although the pp is pretty hard, the results really please me because of the finest architecture, the high pov and the composition!
I really like the impressively threatening cloudy sky - a true highlight in this image!

Un'altra bella vista del tuo viaggio nel Morocco. Questa volta, la famoso Koutoubia. Il cielo e molto bello e la Koutoubia sotgo molto ben nel immagine. Il punto di vista anche é molto ben seclto. Complimenti per questo molto buono fotolavoro.

Cielo oltremodo minaccioso, foriero di tregenda... e le vecchie stregacce (compresa la sottoscritta), come puoi ben immaginare, adorano i tuoni, i fulmini, i TERRIBILI temporali...lo scatenarsi furioso e implacabile degli elementi naturali...

questa ti ha dato più soddisfazione della precedente? Gran ritorno all'HDR che tanto ti piace dunque, i colori ed i dettagli sono molto belli così come il cielo ed il soggetto.

It's not the kind of sky I prefer to see on my holidays but it certainly allows you to shoot very impressive pictures.
The light on and the colours of the Koutoubia Mosque and the other buildings is fantastic. I also like that line of palmtrees on the horizon.

dovevi andare proprio in Marocco per catturare questi cieli spettacolari che ben si adattano al HDR.
Questo è splendido e ottimamente elaborato con lo squarcio di luce sopra il minareto, ma anche la luce dorata che hai ottenuto sul fabbricato è di ottimo impatto.

Parece uma pintura esta tua foto tirada em Marrocos , a arquitectura deste mosque e linda tem belos detalhes com este tijolos vermelhos , gostei muito do céu nublado ,parabéns!!
