Jamaa el Fna (Arabic: ساحة جامع الفناء jâmiʻ al-fanâʼ, also Jemaa el-Fnaa, Djema el-Fna or Djemaa el-Fnaa) is a square and market place in Marrakesh's medina quarter (old city). It remains the main square of Marrakesh, used by locals and tourists.
Jemaa means "congregational mosque" in Arabic, probably referring to a destroyed Almoravid mosque. "Fanâʼ" or "finâ'" can mean "death" or "a courtyard, space in front of a building." Thus, one meaning could be "The mosque or assembly of death," or "The Mosque at the End of the World". A more likely explanation is that it refers to a mosque with a distinctive courtyard or square in front of it.

This is a nice photo from one of the shops at Jemaa el Fna. I like this large collection of beautiful ceramic pots. I guess they were made for serving cous-cous. Some of them are very beautifully painted and would make perfect souvenirs.

beautiful composition showing the attractive pottery. Lovely framing and fine sharpness. The blue chair on the left provides wonderful colour variation to the scene. A photograph of great visual appeal.
Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

Marvelous display of pottery in front of the shop.
They look as same pattern, but each item is different.
Fine taken picture, light well managed and goods clarity.

hello Costantino, Such stalls with souvenirs for tourists are a nice subject for photos. Nice pots for tadjin. Nice to have such a thing, but then at home what to do with all that. Now i am very resistant, and going with backpack, I have no place. Poor shopkeepers :)
Very nice colourful composition./

I wonder how many people visit Marrakech and come away with one of these tajine pots; they can certainly be used to produce some tasty dishes. I like the framing here and the light and colours. The little blue chair is a definite plus, nicely counterbalancing the woman's dress and adding some contrasting colour.

Très beau et très intéressant. On a envie d'en rapporter chez soi, mais comme c'est fragile et pesant on se tourne vers quelque chose d'autre. J'aime bien celles qui sont vernies.

Brilliant shot for its simplicity and the true colour of the subject, if colour is anything to go on then these tajin cooking pots should be magic. An eye-catching stuff within the tight frame, well positioned, excellent clarity and superb contrast. Well captured, tfs

Your study of circles, ovals and terra cotta pottery is eye catching, and the note is, as always, informative. Have a good weekend, Constantino.

Hello Dear Constantino,
I just love how you have captured the mood of this type of shop. All the pots are collected, like some huge ceramic treasure trove, for tourists or natives, alike.
Your details reveal the different textures and the finished decorations.
Oh, I would like to shop here!
Have a lovely day,

Geia sou Costantino

We have just bought a tajin/tagine and have started to learn to cook in it. I wish ours was as pretty as the painted ones here! We have tried some Moroccan recipes -- but I bet there is good Greek cooking to be done in one, too!
