While most of the Souks visited by tourists are in the nordern part of the Medina, the Spice market just of busy Place des Ferblantiers caters more for the locals and not many a foreigner get lost in there. But compared to the shiny kitsch one finds in the big Souks, the spices, clothes, show, CD's and other small items here have a more authentic appeal.
But be aware, you are certain to get lost there and to find your way out trough the old jewish Mellah quarter is not easy to find. But then, that is the whole fun of it ....

despite the difficult light conditions you have exposed the details of the Spice market ever so well.
There appears to be a large variety of spices on display.
The two walking girls add a nice human element and they do add a an extra dimension to a well composed photograph.

That looks like some range of products for sale, and as you mention it looks truly authentic too. I would imagine in the tourist areas, all these products would be packaged in tiny take home bags at ten times the price! I like that you included the long leading view down the street which alludes to your note about the ease to get lost in a place like this.
Beautiful range of colors too.
All the best

Good evening Daniel,
Well managed the light under the shaded street, with the two girls walking along, and gave yet another vivid scale to the beautiful market scene.
DOF and clarity superbly renderred.
Have a nice new week,

Une belle présentation et cadrage de cet étal d'épices et une belle perspective de cette rue et souks

good information there.
and you're totally correct, getting lost in these places is almost half the fun because you will surely bump into something you normally wouldn't have had.
that large door on the left is looking pretty shabby, but that all part of the charm too.

Getting lost in the souks or old towns is the main reason for going to new and unknown places. I would rather stay home than going with a tourist guide who knows the way of of every back street - and the way to the best souvenir stalls. I haven't been to Marrakech but I think I know the smell - or rather aroma - from this spice market. The bags of spices are very nicely lined up along the street, and there are many interesting items hanging on the wall, but to my mind the inclusion of the two girls is just as important for this picture.

A very interesting street scene with an abundance of details. Apart from the wares for sale here, a fine glimpse of persons in the street.

Must be a very photographic location with all the spicy colours, shapes, form and variety of flavors and aroma. Absorbing and perfectly tidy, and placement of the key elements are well spread out to grab attention but what I like most is their rather relaxed manner and the ambient. An appealing shot in the simplicity, Congrats.

I am really enjoying your Morocco series. It makes me want to go back and revisit my trip there. You have once again managed to skilfully capture the essence distilled into a lovely photograph. I like the little girls wandering through oblivious to your presence and absorbed in their conversation. The leading line of the baskets against the wall is well employed . A lovely sharp and detailed shot rich in character

your picture is a great illustration for the description in your note. You have captured the authenticity of this place very effectively, your picture is natural, interesting and pleasing, with great depth and lots of details to explore. The little girls' presence is very agreeable, gives us information about daily life there and balances the composition. You coped very well with the lighting and the deep view is not interrupted by lighting difficulties. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
