The snow-covered peaks of the high Atlas mountains rise over the city of Marrakesh.
The contrast between the semi arid, almost desert like plains of Marrakesh with its palm trees and the impressive snow capped mountains behind the city is indeed impressing and the sight of palm trees and snow in the same picture startles the untrained eye.
While the city of Marrakesh lies at a level of 451m above sea level, the mountains behind have an average hight of over 3000m with the Toubkal being the highest with over 4125m

Well managed, great Pov, and Dof, love the small Stork in her nest to the side.

mir gefällt nicht nur die ausgezeichnete Komposition, sondern auch dieser verblüffende Gegensatz zwischen den schneebedeckten Bergen und den Palmen. Sehr gute Idee und hervorragende Ausführung!

It reminded me one of your previous picture before... superb quality. I especially like the mountains at background.. a bit surreal... beautiful.

Auch dieses wirkt so kühl! Wir konnten die Berge wegen des diesigen Wetters kaum sehen, nur ahnen, geschweige denn fotografieren.

Now this is precisely what contrast is all about outside of the color realm! Palm trees and snow, two things that just don't go together....exactly like the Kardashians and talent! :)
A rarity to see here in Phoenix as you might imagine. It did actually snow at a low enough elevation a number of years ago to cap the mountain range in my part of the valley. I rushed to take as many pictures as possible, quite a sight to see cactus and snow standing side by side. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find those pictures, because this one of yours is inspiration to have shared my own. A smart observation and well managed control to bring these two together into one pleasing frame. Enjoy the new day. All the best.

Palm trees and a snow scene combination! a near miss-matched in theory perhaps, but what a great capture and reality at high altitude with the elements rightly placed as strong focals. The glimpse of the majesty in the bg only increases the depth and perspective turning this a stand out landscape indeed, a shot blessed by brilliant light and colours. Great effort and good eye grabbing shot my friend! Congrats, TFS

A splendid capture! Indeed, the contrast is remarkable and you have recorded it very poetically.

I'm surprise by the combination of palm trees and snow as we get those combination in the desert of Southern Nevada all the time. Nicely captured with good lighting and nice details. Well done, tfs.
