This is the abandoned courtyard and ruined palace of Badi, a short walk from the main square of Marrakech. From wikitravel: "El Badi Palace is now in ruins and inhabited by storks and stray cats. There are some underground passageways to explore. Admission is Dh 10. The view from the terrace is majestic." I have attached a workshop showing the stork nests.

an excellently framed view of the palace with fine textural details of the stone construction. The beautiful warm colour of the palace makes a great contrast with the clear blue sky. The reflections in the water of course make a great foreground.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice evening.

In spring you can see many storks on their nests on the roof of this palace.
Good inclusion of the big pool of which the diagonal line creates a more attractive composition.
The characteristic red colour for the walls in Marrakech is wonderful under that cloudless blue sky.
Best regards, Paul

Not a stork and their photogenic nest ?
But nice reflections, color contrast (natural) and good perspective given by the angle
Good work, tfs

The distance between the pond and the palace is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the palace. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris, It looks quite strange, this abandoned place, more like something in Egypt. Interesting place. Must be fun to explore it. But where are these cats and storks?? Excellent composition.
The main photo show it in rather good state, in WS we see it is ruined (and good place for the nests).

Je me souviens très bien de cet endroit. Marrakech est vraiment une très belle ville. J'aime beaucoup la couleur terreuse des bâtiments sous cette superbe lumière.

I like the point of view, which has allowed you to incorporate the reflections in the water feature into your composition as well giving an angled point of view on the abandoned palace. Pleasing warm/cool tonal contrasts and very good rendering of the textural detail. The tree adds the final touch.

Perfect POV from an askewed angle upon, show superbly to the details of the old walls.
I always wondered what are the holes made when built old edifices, clearly shown here.
Both the WS are well made photos, under bright daylight and with good allocation over it's space.
Have a nce weekend,

superb cold and warm colour contrast in this beautifully detailed image of this old abandoned palace. It looks a bit battered and bruised but still impressive. Wonderful setting, aspect and reflections.
Have a good weekend - B.

I like this simplicity and elegance in your composition. The picture is very attractive with the palace resting at the pool with water and giving delicate reflection on its surface. The tress and some grass add some life and contrasting color to the image. Interesting architecture and nicely shown with saturated colors and perfect sharpness.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day

even in their present state, the palace and its courtyard look fascinating and surely have a lot to offer to visitors, especially if they are photographers. I like very much how you composed this presentation, capturing a fine sense of symmetry and making the most of the brilliant light and the chromatic contrasts. The textures are so intriguing, I love the colours and the reflections. You have a wonderful picture in the workshop too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great Sunday,

A lovely corner from this majestic complex. I love the warm colors of the walls and the brilliant reflections from the pool. A very pleasant photo, indeed.
