Marrakesh and its countless gates & doors...
A real witness of the refinement of Moroccan Arts & culture, deeply rooted in hearts, time & moroccan soil.
In Muslim Spain, the oriental tradition in architecture found a new breath of fresh air and a new originality that the Almoravid , from Andalusia, transposed in the eleventh century while building Marrakech, and contributing to the birth of the Moorish Moroccan Art.
Largely characterized by three elements: the arabesque with stylized foliage, calligraphy and its representation of verses from the Holy Quran, and the octagon geometric pattern.
Thanks for passing by.

Hello Hicham
Very nice presentation of this great door. I just love how intricate the details are and how clear the textures were exposed. Great close up, nice framing and well captured!
Great note too! TFS!

Hello Hicham,
Where the architect has imbued his work with symmetry, I believe we should celebrate the symmetry. Old doors are eye catching, and in historic Marakech (and Fez) there must be many of them. One of my very best university students came from Marakech, and is now a professor of physics himself in the United States. I would like to do a workshop to reduce the convergence of vertical lines, created by a wide angle lens. I hope you don't mind. Also I would like to add this photo to the group theme, Old Doors.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Dear Hicham,
This is a fine presentation of the old door - light is well managed to allow us to appreciate the intricate and finer details of craftsmanship typical of Marrakesh. Well seen.
TFS,
May

Bonjour,
Yves.
