Photographer's Note
---English---
One more picture of this series of publications dedicated to the ocher city ... the so beautiful ... the so rich and so poor Marrakech.
Towards "Djemaa el Fna" square, right in front of the mythical "El Koutoubia” mosque, this man of a certain age, deprived of almost everything, barely visible to the eyes of passers-by, chose to take rest at the entrance of this villa, simple from the outside but undoubtedly of great refinement and wealth from the inside (a well known caracter of Moroccan culture : houses remain highly simple from the outside).
By his posture (exhausted, as if unconscious and stretching his hand to pedestrians asking for money) as well as the chosen location, the old man reminded me how ironic and cynic life can be.
I was strongly touched by this scene as if coming out straight from the writings of "KAFKA".
Have a good day.

Hello Hicham,in every corner of this planet there is the contrast of big and small, of rich and poor, of the elected ones and the sufferers.
Poor man sitting on a rich man's doorstep is a very real life picture and yes, it is showing that life can be unfair in many ways.
Very interesting and useful note, very interesting picture!
best regards,
Eleni

Greetings hicham,
marvelous picture, very impressive note. Unfortunately, as the richest just get richer and richer, others sink in deep poverty. Quite unfair yes !!!!

Bonjour Hicham,
This image caught my eye when you uploaded it, but sadly I could not comment then as the site kept crashing on me. You really have captured a scene with great emotion here. To see this man, who has lived, I would guess a long life and seen so much, and now he is here, with so little but in the presence of so much wealth. It makes me think, does he even know, or indeed care for the trappings of wealth that he is so close to, yet so far away from? A beautiful and thought filled shot Hicham, thank you for sharing.
I am also fascinated to learn that wealth is not displayed in this beautiful city. Unlike in Ireland, where so many of the wealthy will build the most gaudy and inappropriate looking homes, seemingly to flaunt all that they have. Really nice work.
All the best
Noel
