Photographer’s Note
"Never be afraid to do something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the titanic. Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps, down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision."
As I've just made up my mind about next trip and I am really looking forward to be on the road again,
I've chosen this photo because even the longest trip must start with first initial step...
Travel as well as life itself is a journey of its own, understanding one step leads to another, and each step relies on the existence of the previous one. How far each individual chooses to travel is up to him or her, but all must take the same initial steps. At a later stage the path begins to split but again the first steps must be taken for travel to start and to continue… There might be 1ooo different paths to take and none of them is better or more important, just different. It is only up to us how exciting and eventful we make any journey we are on..
My next journey will take me through several places I wanted to see for some time now...
from London to.. St. Petersburg -> Moscow -> Ulaanbaatar -> Beijing -> back to Moscow and home to London...
.. and it could not be real journey if I would not plan to visit desert.. this time it will be Mongolian Gobi desert
Lucie
PS: As some of you asked - I will not be taking Transsiberian train all the way, just small part from Mongolia to Beijing.. However the Transsiberian from Moscow to Beijing or Vladivostok is still on my list of things to do, but some other time as I don’t have that much time this time and I'd rather see more from Mongolia and very small bit of China..

Hi Lucie,
Small and bigger footprints. Lovely golden tone sand and low light that makes little shadows to this piece of art.

Hi Lucie
Very artistic shot with the different prints, the undulating sand which gives an interesting texture and the rich red colour.
Are you going to take the train for some of the journey ?

Lucie,
don't mind the step, but the pattern of the footprints.
Like those in the upper part.
By the way which animals can leave that sign: lizards, birds?

Hi Lucie,
very moving photo and a great note! I perceive the life as a journey as well and it's good to know that other people share this view. You really made my day remininding about it! Have a wonderful trip(by Transsiberian I guess?)! Regards, Hanna

Hello Lucie,
very good shot here. Excellent color on the sand. The impression on the sand is so nicely visible with the texture of the sand and the shade.

Hi Lucie,
I love your image and I love your story. Although you do not say that this human foot will stay on ground. Whereas these little feet up there, will fly away. Far away ...
Very nice, crispy, warm-coloured, image, to make a dream come true. Cheers, --amz

You were meant to be in the desert, that's for sure! Another great shot, with the simple but incredibly powerful image of the footprint and the bird tracks combining to makes something not only beautiful, but also philosphical. That sounds like a very exciting trip - can't wait to see the photos!

I know this is an older shot, but I just found it and really liked the simplicitity of it. The waves and even the grains in the sand. Love that you got the tracks of the scarab beetles that run around at night and the human (yours) equivilent, who run around in the day. ;) Nice shot, I enjoyed finding it.
