Photographer’s Note
In Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga, in Morocco. I climbed to the top of a dune in the morning, after camping in the desert after a camel trek, and took this shot looking back into the sun from the direction I came.

Steve, very interesting, striking photograph! Did you backtrack to your shooting spot? I find the purple blobs around the lens flare a wee bit distracting.

Hi Steven,
I was immediately attracted to the color gradient of the sand. You did a very good job of capturing detail and the light falling on this dune. It's too bad the sky is blown out due to the sun, but that doesn't bother me too much.
Cheers,
Peter

Hello Steve...
Well, impressive. You've been on a noticable incline with your photography recently. I chose this shot to comment on because it is at once quite a common scene, yet you've created a very distinct setting. Tackling a photograph into the sun is always a risky venture, but you've pulled it off here extremely well. The texture of the sand and the footprints comes through amazingly in this low(orientation) bright(densitiy) light. Flares add to the mystical qualities here.
REgards,
Chris.

i like the colors, the warmth, the sun and the flare that makes this picture less perfect, more interesting.
