Some photographers' dream: Camel ride in Dunes (here, Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, to be exact) and sharing a photo from there. This is clear when you see many photos from different dunes of the earth.
April sun did not burn at all and further, it is 5 PM, therefore quite mild: 20degC or so. Colors in dune photos are usually amazing, as there is no humidity in there, which means no haze and clear details. And orange/yellow tone of the sand together with the blue sky create nice contrasts. As the caravan ride starts late afternoon, you have long shades on the sand, which may look attractive in photos.
The ride on the first day is not long, only for 2 hours or so, then you arrive at the tent area, which has been set up by the Berbers. You sleep there overnight and turn back to the auberge, where the tour had set off. If you have a 2 nights tour, you continue riding the camels, this time 6 hours: 4 hours in the morning, 2 hours afternoon. What was most difficult is riding a camel for hours, which makes you really feel sore at your bottoms.

hard to beat erg Chebbi at Merzouga for good images of camel rides in the sand dunes
I like the blue cloth of the leader and the long shadows
Bravo, well done

You are right, a photographer's dream!
The camel train makes a great lead as we follow them across the sand but then, those wonderful long shadows, transport us from right to left with a great sweeping motion!
A great subject and nicely composed.
My warm regards,

Hello Denisz ,
A beautiful composition , with attractive effect of the shades in the sand , and of the well managed back-light .
Noel_Byrne (25230) 2013-11-22 1:46
What a shot. As you say, the lack of haze in the air has allowed this to be so beautifully clear, and looking at this shot, it could be a scene from any time over a period o hundreds of years, the world seems to have changed so little in some places. The color of the dunes is really superb, and that you have composed this scene in a way to allow those striking shadows to be such a strong part of the overall view is a brilliant idea. The man in blue is the perfect color compliment to the tones of the sand. Love this.
Thanks for sharing
willperrett (7424) 2013-11-22 1:55
An absolute classic. Beautifully composed, with the raking evening light creating long shadows which are an important element. The low viewpoint and the slight downward tilt give prominence to the sand with its rich colour, contrasting well with the sky and clothing of the figure on foot. Beauty!

une bonne composition dans un format carré;

Couleurs magnifiques. Bravo.
emka (80830) 2013-11-22 6:46
yes, it is traveler's and photographer's dream. Wonderful dark dunes and this blue Tuareg leading the camels. The long shadows in the evening look so marvelous. Maybe classic but who wouldn't like to make a shot like this!
I saw many beautiful deserts but not many such "real" ones. I was on a trip on camels on Tsar, near Jaisalmer, in India. It was fun to sleep under the sky and when I woke in the night I saw camel above me. Our camels were quite comfortable, no sore on bottoms :)
jabber (323) 2013-11-22 6:54
a complete colorful photo. blue sky and sand,a good decision of nature to make a complete circle of colors.
you put a good blue point with cameleer on your shot but i think that your shot need a crop to make a good perspective with lines those you have in your photo.
you made an square with a central powerful point that it make a balance but it catch the feel of movement to perspective from your shot and make flat feel in your shot.
thanks for share.

chrislo (4155) 2013-11-22 11:02
Excellent POV to show the camels with the man leading. They give the picture a beautiful straight line in the curved sand. I like the repetition of the shadows, which add a wonderful extra element to the scene. Beautiful warm colours and a perfect composed shot.

Tebrikler.
oss (425) 2013-11-22 11:33
Low light, perfect framing by putting the figures on the right and filling the lower half with the shadows. Great contrast and saturation.
PaulVDV (23015) 2013-11-22 11:55
Due to the low position of the sun these small caravan casts very large shadows on the sand. These shadows provide a nice alternation of dark and redbrown parts of the sand.
The colour of the dunes is so beautiful under the clear sky.
20° C. is a very nice temperature to travel through the desert.
Best regards, Paul
williewhistler (14697) 2013-11-22 15:16
the square format works very well in an imaginative composition, with the shadows of the camel train working their magic and the lovely shapes of the dunes it is indeed a high class piece of photography.
Just beautiful,a treat to view.
Best wishes Les.

adidas5nb (5413) 2013-11-22 18:11
now this is some amazing stuff.great pov colors light saturation frame....and i can go on.really a treat to the eyes.
subhendu_bagchi (25871) 2013-11-22 21:51
wow, Deniz, what a shot. Like the bright colours... Like the effect of soft light and the long shadows... Like the composition using the diagonal. Great shot. Tfs.

Truly artistic image. How great you have captured the caravan and the shadows on the sand...amazing.
Enjoy a nice weekend.

Complimenti. Uno scatto di grande qualità.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

Great shot, I like a lot compo with great shadows ... perfect view !
chawax (19520) 2013-11-23 9:59
I've been there a few weeks ago (not posted my photos yet) and I agree that it is a fantastic place for photography ! Well, I was on a camel so I couldn't take a picture with such a POV. A shame for me because I really like this idea, using the shadows of the camels to fill the FG. The sand has fantastic colours of course and contrasts greatly with the blue sky.
adramad (38832) 2013-11-24 4:51
Despite the many years we've been in TE, we had not seen our pictures in the gallery, yours is splendid and varied.
Sensational with row of camels image and the beautiful effect of the elongated shadows effect of a low sun, the wonderful warm sand color, contrasting with a smooth and nice blue.
Very good image quality, the lighting is also ideal.
Very good job.
Have a nice Sunday.
siudzi (34047) 2013-11-24 9:52
Wow! What a superb capture here taken with great lights and long shadows in the foreground. Your low and back POV worked very well to build this spectacular composition. Very eye catching one! TFS!
nikkitta (14992) 2013-11-24 17:27
A dream of capture as you tells in the note, all eye catching elements are present, dunes, color , shadows and leading the way, the blue silhouette of the Tuareg guide
Beautiful composition of a beautiful subject
Greetings and have a great week

Deniz, what a nice pov, a camel safari in south Morocco, your picture is perfectly presented, I like the effect of shade on the sand dunes (erg), a great experience for sure, thanks for your support, have a nice evening
delpeoples (53415) 2013-11-26 0:26
Merhaba dear Deniz
Ahh this is fantastic. As you say, it's every photographer's dream. And you did us proud, I can live vicariously through this amazing photo. It has that Lawrence of Arabia vibe to it. The colours are beautiful and rich, I love the textures of the sand and of course the play of light and shadows of the camels in line is simply stunning. I also like that little dab of blue from the Berber man leading the way. Terrific work, thanks for sharing.
Have a beautiful day
krzychu30 (15498) 2013-11-26 2:08
picture like the best adventure!
Combination of strong contrasting colors, the way you placed the caravan in the frame and finally the shadows of it.All together make really eye-catching effect!
Have a good day

Hi,an outstandingly beautiful photo. The low light adds drama and enhances the colors.Inspired composition, all the best Wolf.
CLODO (30706) 2013-11-27 1:42
Superb composition with the stretched shadows for subject, the color contrast between the orange sand and blue sky, and the perspective given by the camels conducting our eye to the blue man.
ChrisJ (100066) 2013-11-27 5:31
I was there last August! Superb side-lighting from the right here. Would you believe it rained with thunder and lightning and a sandstorm in the evening I departed on the camel trek? Fantastic mood, but not good for photography like this! However, the morning was much better. I got a similar result to here with nice long shadows and textured rippled patterns in the sand. Tfs!
korbee (6617) 2013-11-27 12:51
Hallo dear Deniz,
A great looking photo, striking colors and fantastique shades, could be a scene out of the wonderful Bertoluci fim about the Sahara,'The sheltering sky',well done.

Ciao Deniz, fascinating composition with fantastic shadows, great scene, wonderful warm colors, excellent clarity and splendid light, very well done, my friend, bravo, ciao Silvio
jcpix (13704) 2013-11-28 19:50
I'm late to the party on this one, but wow, what a terrific shot! This has all of the attention grabbing elements of an Arabian scene. Well, perhaps a few palm trees would top off the picture perfect association, but this is superb none the less.
Putting light and shade to the forefront of this composition is outstanding, and the two tone color pallet is pure delight. For me, this encapsulates the mood and vibe of the locale perfectly, and has a touch of an exotic Indiana Jones thrill ride about it. :) Top notch shot, no surprise it's been a popular one here!
kiks (11749) 2013-11-30 1:47
Hello Deniz, this is a classic one but very well executed.
KristinsCamera (2373) 2013-11-30 19:23
the late afternoon shadows do indeed look interesting, dramatic actually.
the other camel riders look almost to be in silhouette, with only an intriguing edge of color to them. as you say, the contrast between the color of the sand and the sky is wonderful. and the ripples in the sand an interesting contrast to the patterns in the clouds. beautiful work, as always ~ and with this, you now have a well-deserved 100 points :)
eldancer1 (28983) 2013-12-01 7:46
Beautiful and powerful composition! Yes, one of my dreams is to ride a camel in a real desert sand dunes. We have sand dunes here but not very big. Nice capture of the shadows on the sand dune. Well done, tfs.
Thanks for doing the WS of my balloon photo.

To gather 104 points on TE nowadays, whether you have to write a lot of critiques everyday and to everyone, scrupulously maintaining your network of followers, or you have to create a darn good photo...
I know without a doubt that in your case, it has something to do with the second theory. What a shot my friend! Like an old member of this website who was repeating the same expression in each of his critiques, I should add "corners to corners"...
No need to say why this shot is a hit, there is 51 people who said it before me.
