Chefchaouen in north western Morocco is often called the Blue City, for obvious reasons. Instead of whitewash on buildings and paths they use a blue colored rinse. This was taken at night under both street and moonlight and here, the colour seems more intense then during the hard light of day. Cities in Morocco are often split between old and new, with a medina, kasbah and souks located in the old part of the city. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chefchaouen
According to wiki it has its own province but it does not appear on the drop down menu in TE. This map supports wiki: http://www.mapsofworld.com/morocco/morocco-political-map.html

very good quality for iso1400 f4 & 1/8 sec.s. this derelict corner made me remember and smile those winding alleys of all-blue tones and stairs. good that you also include some traditional elements. chefchaouen has been by far my fav place in morocco.

A well constructed image, that one might say constitutes an urban still life. The point of view invites the viewer to step in and explore this blue city further. The image is well exposed and has good colours and clarity. I rather like it. Bon week end.

You're my next-door neighbour today! Well: la vie en bleu. I think you're right about the colours being more intense at night, and the domestic local details add another dimension to a very attractive shot.

a nice and tight composition here. Like your blue city which is full with mystery. Great light strips are coming from left, which made the atmosphere here. The combined effect of street & moonlight is great. A superb frame, really enjoyable. Tfs.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

this is wonderful! A blue setting that has such sumptuous and delicious shades, but it is the little blast of colour that makes it so captivating and beautifully original. Stunning imagery!
Enjoy the weekend - Brian.

The steps are ging depth and perspectibe to the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colours of the wall, of the baskets and of the table. The surrounding light is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

A beautiful demonstration of still life, with the stairs presenting the extra height.
Its is the exposure which counts the most in shots like this.
This seems to be the point where the dynamic range of a SLR is tested.

this colour is magical, it looks so full and substantial and affects everything near it in an enchanting way. You discovered a beautiful back alley and your remark about the effect the lighting has on this magical blue is very interesting. You've captured various different shades and I also like very much the subtle shadows. Depth and framing are superb too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

The title perfectly fits to the scene. It's simple but also very well composed and taken with with a good sense of depth. Intensive blue tone makes it so eye-catching! Excellent post!

Très belle composition en bleu. La faible lumière du soir donne des ombres plus douces qu'en pleine journée et donne de très jolies couleurs à l'ensemble.

Hello chris, As Miguel, I think rather about Jodhpur as the blue city. But even in Jodhpur there are no blue streets, I mean the path here is also blue. fantastic view. and these baskets and small colourful table look as if it was prepared for a photographer. Charming shot. And isn't it fun that you show the photos from Europe (well, not this time) and I from Queensland?
I wish you a beautiful Sunday
