Photographer’s Note

After wandering through the inland areas of Morocco Asilah (on the coast south of Tangier)proved to be a big and relaxing change. We were there out of season so it was very quiet. It has a touch of Greece with its blue and white but really more of Spain (Andalucia anyway) and we had the best paella we've ever been served in a restaurant - done on a 2 metre wide pan and on display for all to see (and served by the octogenarian owner).
This photo then .... Asilah has an art festival every year where artists paint murals on walls around the old town. Michael Levy posted a photo of this painting taken in March last year. I don't know what happened but it didn't get painted over in last year's festival so when I saw it it was a bit battered (and unlike in Michael's photo the shutters were closed. It was quite early so shadows cut across the painting (when we came back later the area was covered by carpets!).
I also chose to include the building on the left which highlights the whites and blues of Asilah.
This just about does Morocco for the time being - my next postings will be of Andalucia.
