Photographer's Note
Bab Kasbah: The Town Gate. We went to the Kasbah today. Apparently, in Arabic, the word kasbah (or qassabah) refers to a type of medina, Islamic city, or fortress (citadel). In Tangier, it refers to the walled-in part of the medina. It includes the Kasbah Museum in Dar el-Makhzen, the former sultan’s palace (where Portuguese and British governors also lived).
This is the taxi that took us to the Kasbah (the long way, of course). It was leaving the gate we entered through as we started taking pictures. Today wasn't the best day for photography most of the time, with torrential downpours, but I tried to make the best of it. We visited the museum and made our way down. During one of the downpours, we went into a shop and bought a few souvenirs. It was the most expensive rain that I have ever experienced!
