Photographer’s Note

Hassan Tower in the center of Rabat. The photo was taken during heavy rain at 17:18 (some 40 minutes before sunset) from the entrance to mausoleum of Mohammed V.
Camera settings: P mode, ISO400, 22 mm zoom, -0.3 Ev exposure compensation. Camera was hand-held but set to use mirror lockup and 2 seconds self timer to reduce shake. Raw conversion done with color temperature set to 5250K.

I really like this photo. The pov, the light reflecting on the tower, the person carrying the umbrella, all this winter atmosphere, so unusual in the photos of this place.Even the pavement in the foreground looks great here. Very good shot!

Great lighting with the rain and the spotlight on the Hassan Tower. Sharp adn detailed also. Original in that I don't think I have ever seen a photo of Morocco in the rain. Composition and colors are excellent.

Of all your beautiful photos why did I choose this one to critique? 1) I like that you went out in the heavy rain to photograph and capture a rare moment. That's what photography is about. 2) There is a lot to critique here ... Unfortunately, judging by this picture you didn't take advantage of the situation by photographing unusual images of the rain: e.g. reflection of the tower in the water, the tower juxtaposed with the umbrella, etc. I like the lighting on the tower, but find the high intensity light fixtures against the sky distracting. These could be cloned out or find another angle where they are less conspicuous. The marble mozaic platform in the foreground is nice, but does not fit with the picture, i.e. there is too much in the picture. Try to simplify your composition for more impact. Hope you find these suggestions useful and not offensive. I love your work in general.
