Photographer's Note
Near the Mausoleum of Mohamed V there is actually a lone-standing minaret of a never finished Mosque that was intended to be the greatest one of the world.
Here you can see the lot of bases with a lot of people in our days to be a pleasant stroll to the natives.
Rabat
Rabat literally "Fortified Place" French Ville de Rabat Spanish Ciudad de Rabat), is the capital and third largest city of the Kingdom of Morocco with a population of approximately 650,000 (2010). It is also the capital of the Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer region.
The city is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. On the facing shore of the river lies Salé, the city's main commuter town. Together with Temara the cities account for a combined metropolitan population of 1.8 million. Silting problems have diminished the Rabat's role as a port; however, Rabat and Salé still maintain important textile, food processing and construction industries. In addition, tourism and the presence of all foreign embassies in Morocco serve to make Rabat one of the most important cities in the country.
Rabat is accessible by train through the ONCF system and by plane through the nearby Rabat-Salé Airport.

Bonjour, cher Danos,

This is most impressive pillar-bases no finished that I ever saw, Danos.
By a swift calculation made, there must be some 240 culumn on the ground, as the picture shows.
Great clear image, natural colors and fine daylight collected. People/tourists there go to see the notable tower, gave a vibrant tone to the whole.

The wideness of the square is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the minaret and of the columns. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Danos,
very attractive design of the minaret, the columns make interesting unusual foreground. I heard recently from a colleague from Algeria that they attempt now to design the largest mosque in the world, I cross my fingers for them to succeed. You have captured it with a great light which provides nice long shadows here.
Very well done,

Hi Danos,
the never finished mosque with the columns that do not support any building, and the minaret that is outlined on the blue sky, is a very interesting topic for your composition.
People adds many vitality to the scene, and the light is playing with the shades very effectively.

Molto bello il POV con le colonne che irrompono nella composizione e diventano protagoniste al posto del Mausoleo.

Hello Danos,
You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see this big/brown Mosque with the rectangular form and a lot of stone pillars standing on wide sqaure in front of Mosque. This spectacle seems to the world of a different dimension for me. And, the long shadow projected to the sqaure draws out a good effect in this image.

I presume those many posts were intended to support a second-storey flooring, given the height.
They could be used as a practice field for motorcycle slalom!
Anyway, those "stone soldiers" standing in close formation seem to be waiting for a fall out order on behalf of minaret and they compose with the tall abandoned building a well-balanced picture.
Se xereto.

This is a really fine capture of a very unique place, its great to see that the vast square with all those ruined columns is such an integral part of daily life, and the people walking among them barely seem to notice the vast history all around. Brillainy POV to show off the tower in the distance too.

Hi Danos,
Lovely POV of this "never ending", "never ended" mosque. It's like a play on words for such a large edifice that never ends and that was never completed after the death of the sultan Yacoub el-Mansour in the 12th century, I believe, and then was damaged by an earthquake in the 18th century.
The unfinished minaret, the Hassan Tower overlooks this column forest with all its majesty.
Are you going to show us the mausoleum in one of your next posts too ?
Thanks for sharing these interesting marks of Moroccan history and culture.
Kind regards.

Good photo/ note combo. I wonder why the poles have different heights. Here in my hometown is the biggest Mosque of the country. They had started the build but than they ran out of money. It was unfinished for years, it was an ugly building site. Than people in that surrounding complained and then they told the people that were in charge of the build: complete it or we will demolish it. Money was found, it it finished now. They should finish this one too! :)
