Thanks to Aubrey Stoll (Rosaline) these ruins belong to Meknes.
Meknes was built as the Moroccan capital on a fertile plain north of the Middle Atlas, near Fez by sultan Moulay Ismail, one of the first rulers of the Alawite dymasty that governed Morocco.
Moulay Ismail came to power in 1672 at age 26 and reigned for 55 years. When a French princess refused his hand in marriage, the young Sultan swore that he could build a palace that would rival Versailles in splendor. The City was completed by his grandson Sidi Mohamed ben Abdallah.
When in the early 19th century, Meknes ceased to be an imperial capital, it became neglected.
Thanks again to Aubrey Stoll(Rosaline) for the reminder.

The depth on this photo is fantastic, though I do think the impact would be greater if it were sharper.

I like your DOF highlighting the repetative arches. Beautiful symmetry & the man gives an idea about the size of the structure. I would have liked the image to be a bit sharper though

Very nice and interesting composition here. I like the repetition of the arches and the depth they give to the image.
Very well done!

Great shot here and nice depth. The place is called Meknes and is characteristic of all these arches. I'm not sure about the tourist in the picture, but the shot still delivers awesome impact. Well done.

Great perspective and symmetry in the long line of arches in this shot, Robert. I can't decide whether I like the figure being there, to give a sense of scale, or whether I'd rather have an uninterrupted view down the 'tunnel' formed by the old stone arches. Either way it's a great shot.

Perfect rhythm of these archs! Good POV and composing of dramatic picture.

vraiment très réussi ce cadrage vertical, un excellent point de vue qui donne une lecture de la photo irréprochable, un sujet bien placé qui ajoute à la composition, très belle netteté, beau travail,

Great repetition of arches, all presented in this attractive composition...
Good textures in the walls, the blue person is well placed and offers an exciting colour contrast!

Superbe, belle lignes et couleurs. Ca resemble un peu a lorsqu'on place deux miroirs un en face de l'autre.

Excellent compostion with wonderful depth and fine details to this ancient archway. Very informative note as to the wonderful history of this beautiful spot and about its sultan.

A fantastic DOF in picture, Robert.
Corridor under the old arcs, well collected, as light coming through .

Just saw this capture on your page and Meknes came to my mind along with this incredible place, the Royal stables at the side of Agdal reservoir
I was there years ago
Composition with perspective and contrasts, good scanned work
Hasta luego, te felicito
