Looking through from the annex to the sanctuary of the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail in Meknes, Morocco. This is as far as non-Muslims can go, a wonderfully cool courtyard with a bubbling fountain. At a time when Europeans were burning their enemies and torturing them on the rack, the tyranny of Sultan Moulay Ismail was considered extreme. In spite of this he's revered in Morocco for uniting the country, bringing peace, and extensive construction projects.
