This young mother certainly was not bothered by this shot. As a matter of fact, she requested me to ake more pictures of them afterwards. What she enjoyed about it was seeing herself in the LCD after each shot was taken. However, this first shot of them is the best, I would say, because it looks candid and natural. And I didn’t mind if the baby did not look at my direction. I found their actions meaningful – that of the mother’s natural instinct to give her all to protect her child (and that of the children’s occassional unawareness of how much their mother sacrificed for them).

Nice shot. I really like this serious mother and her child looking away, so natural. The sharpness and relistic colors of the main subject is remarkable. However It would seen that you tried to blurr the background with PS of some kind of post processing program, I like the idea but the processing is not that successful around the baby's head and between the baby and mother.

Almost Rembrandt! :-) If not lack of gold tint in the picture. Guess the child is very restless. The face of the mother just amazing.

A very special image and I'm glad to hear it was interactive. At first glance I did not car for the border but as I rest my eyes it bring focus to the mother face and fine hairs of the child. Beautiful Manny, you have a unique gift of sight.

Actually the shot is nice because the baby is looking the other way. His head next to the mother's place is a nice contrast. Nice shot.

Yes, you captured the moment very, very well. This is the type of shots I really like to see on TE. Great colors, good composition, thanks for sharing it with us.

Belíssima foto, talvez ficasse mais evidente de preto e branco.

i love this shot. dead on. and the babys face turned away i think felps to focus on the mothers face who herself has a strong fcial expression. exposed very nice as well on her face draws your focus to her face instantly. the feathered frame I think also works well with this photo.

Nice moment catch. Great contrast of colors between mom and son. Add more space from the top might make the focus not too high position.

I have 6 children all grown, somehow they never think mothers give up all to protect their children......

...means the same expression, the same effort and the same pain. Her expression reminded me of the Afghan girl, shot by Steven McCurry for National Geographic.
There's sadness on her face. When it comes to pictures of people, nothing beats natural expression.
