A snapshot from the medival part of the imperial city of Fez - an extreemely fascinating place consisting of 9000 alleys (and at least as many carpet salesmen!) in less than 2 square km! Sough's (shopping/crafting districts) are packed with people, mules, goods and the tempo and noise is very hectic indeed.
The shot is a snapshot. I have mixed feelings about photographing people in everyday situations without their consent. A sad result is that this is my only 'people' shot from the trip.
I have just posted a tread in the discussion forum on the topic of the do's and dont's of people photography. I hope some of the great 'people' photographers on TE will contribute to this, important, discussion.
As for the pic: I like it because it conveys the huslt and bustle of the sough's well. Due to poor lightning conditions I stabilazed the cam on the back of a resting mule...

Despite the difficult conditions it's a very effective shot emmiting exactly the feeling of the place...Nice composition, framing and colors...Well done..

"I stabilazed the cam on the back of a resting mule..." ...you then had to flag "use quadripod : yes" option...
2-3 things on why I like that shot very much :
- reminds me Laurent MonlaŘ shots of Mauritania, on medium format, slow shutter and flash. There's an alternance of sharp and blurred parts...
- the woman's pose is very good and the mains characters (incl.the mule) are clearly displayed through the pic,
- top notch right side mosaics recalling the colors of clothes. This feature totally balances the picture without which the righter side would have been slightly weak.

Oh I so love this shot. How beautiful it is in the movement and colour. The slight angle makes it even more interesting. I see your comments about shooting people, and I tend to agree with you. I always ask if I want to get up into the faces of them. If not, I tend to take them further away and far more candid. This I think is OK.
I would love to see more like this.

this is good, i like the feeling of movement you captured here - people, the mule. nice blue line on the right side too, it is a busy and moody scene

Am I the only person that is reminded of biblical stories, whilst looking at this picture. The baby, the mother, the donkey????

I like this shot Mikkel. What first caught my eye here was the tile work on the right. Sharp, along with the wall, which tells me the blur was totally from the movement of the woman and mule and not camera shake. The tilework also mirrors the colors in the womans robe very nicely, balancing the image very nicely. It's a good shot really, very "streety" looking. Good tilted composition and perfect exposure. The more I look at it, the more I like it. It's more about color, light and shadows than about the sharpness...
