Photographer’s Note

Women in El Jadida, Morocco.

In Morocco is easier to make a photo of people, than in Egypt - they usually agree, especially in big cities. For example, photo of "Berber kids" which is in my gallery, was shot in their house, in presence of their parents (I have also photos of whole berber family - their grandma, father, mother doing housework). They showed us their house and agreed to make some photos. Of course, they are awaiting gift or payment, but it's normal in afican countries ("bakshish"). Somethimes it is the only way to earn money for them, because there is no welfare - and if there is no job, so there is no money. I asked women on the photo, if could I make a photo. I had to pay, and they agreed. Of course, the first 15 photos was bad, beceuse they were expecting a shot. This one was made, when they lost interest what am I doing.
