The Golden Hour on Tamarin Beach

As most photographers know, the so-called golden hour (the hour before sunset) can give a beautiful warm glow and pleasing light and shadows to your photographs.

This photograph shows Tamarin beach and the outlet of the river du Rempart into the sea. During our visit the river was usually quite low and slow moving so it could be waded across. In fact the beach over the other side was much nicer and less rocky so it was well worth the effort. In the background you can see Mount du Rempart at 545 metres high.

Hi John!
Good shot of this fantastic place.Your image has a good depth with the curve of the shore and the people in the distance. The golden hour light is great and creates nice, bright colors.

G'Day John,
Your gallery is very impressive. I would love to visit Mauritius - home of the extinct dodo. Sadly, this island has one of the worst extinction rates of any place in the world (followed by New Zealand and Hawaii). Why? Because ancient travellers to these places needed something to eat! Sad indeed, that more fish were not eaten! Now to your shot. The clarity is stunning. Your lowset view of the rocky beach, inlet and towering peak. Good to catch some locals having a walk and some of the housing. Lush, clear and fine details! Good sky, the extreme size does wonders to the image.
Matt
