I am restless (Rabindranath Tagore)

I am restless.
I am athirst for far-away things.
My soul goes out in a longing
to touch the skirt of the dim distance.
O Great Beyond,
O the keen call of thy flute!
I forget, I ever forget,
that I have no wings to fly,
that I am bound in this spot evermore.
I am eager and wakeful,
I am a stranger in a strange land.
Thy breath comes to me whispering
an impossible hope.

Thy tongue is known to my heart
as its very own.
O Far-to-seek,
O the keen call of thy flute!
I forget, I ever forget,
that I know not the way,
that I have not the winged horse.
I am listless, I am a wanderer in my heart.
In the sunny haze of the languid hours,
what vast vision of thine
takes shape in the blue of the sky!
O Farthest end,
O the keen call of thy flute!
I forget, I ever forget,
that the gates are shut everywhere
in the house where I dwell alone.

foto magica!

hi Luca! A 'pure' shot. It tells your viewer more than what youre showing here. I admire the sharpness very much. Thanks for sharing...

Alex

Luca,
A very nice shot. I love the lines and the way the send gets picked up by the sandals (or whatever he is wearing) behind the man. I suppose desirt is a great place for photographing?

Bravo, bravo davvero!

I love desert, and your photo here perfectly illustrates the reason - it's this feeling of calm and freedom that I find irresistable. the amazing colours that change tone and temperature with the slightest change in the light is another marvel that fascinates me. I like a lot the elegant brown-orange in this shot, together with the elaborate textures on the sand I find it the best illustration of how beautiful the desert is.
but what makes this photo really special is that flying white robe and plume of sand in the wind, it fits perfectly what you describe in your note. superb photo, Luca, my sincere compliments.
best,
Kristine

Hi Luca,
This is an unusual image that seems to leave a fair bit to ones imagination - just not quite sure what is going on here? But your capture is very well done - especially the sand movement and dusting to the left of the person. Well done and TFS. Gerald

Hello Luca! He almost seems to fly over the sand and I wonder where he was rushing to :) Maybe he was restless, we will never know. For me personally, he has something of a desert wind and I love how the sand comes up behind his feet, he was moving very fast. The white robe is so elegant and I love how it flutters in the wind. Beautiful photo, and something for our imagination ... Barbara.

Hi Luca !
What a wonderful capture and excellent exposure.I like very much the motion and the footprints. You placed him perfect in the frame and the contrast between his waving cloth and the warm desert tones is great.

not only the image which struck me with awe but I got too much excited to see that you gave quotes from Tagore's work (amazing!)
this is a very nice composition & I just wonder the amount of study & profound realization you have to strike a right balance between the image & the note :)
well done, really, & I mean it...

Ciao Luca,

poesia estremamente adatta all'immagine.

ciao

Hi, Luca. A wonderful shot. The clothes inflated by the wind contrast very well with the sand and the sand that is raised by the running man creates movement in the picture. The borders of the dunes also create very nice lines in the image. Freedom and purity are the two things that come to my mind when I see this picture.

hello Luca,

again a beautiful view of maquritania. This one is very creative and inspired. Geraldine

Hello Luca!
Very beautiful composition in desert and great perspective!
Lovely colouurs and perfect clarity!
Excellent done!
Best regards!
Lili

Hello Luca,
This is indeed one of the good photos of the desert. I like how the sand is "flying" too in the back of the flying man. There is a lightness in the movement on the man. A feeling of freedom. Even though we know that desert is not an easy place to live. You have to know how to live there... otherwise, you put your freedom in jeopardy...
A very beautiful photo Luca, very inspiring...
Claire

Luca
Amicalement

Simple but gripping me strongly, earth color of the dune in the side light infiltrates into my mind.
Splendid work as always!

Hi Lucas,
Your note accompanies very well this moment of eternity perfectly presented here.
Indeed, I absolutely don't agree with polonaise! to me it's a perfect presentation! what's the need to pushing that hard the contrast and why erasing a part of the man's leg making the pic so odd! :-/
In your pic I like the sand blown by the wind, echoing to the swollen clothes. I like the warmth of the sand and I admire the fact that though conditions seems hard you managed greatly the white balance and contrast.
Well done,
Pris.

Vraiment joli
