Photographer’s Note
Tao or Dao (道, Pinyin: Dào, Cantonese: Dou) is a Chinese character often translated as ‘The way of nature'. In ancient China, dao could be modified by other nouns. Tao is simply the way and order of the Universe.

The essence of desert
The purity all around
in it's lines, shadows
and in the light
That kind of light
that can change so fastly
and in the air
you breath
walking on a flying carpet of sand
on a late afternoon
in order to reach the edge of a dune
to discover what's hiding behind.
This is the "TAO" of the desert.

I'm back from a beautiful
two weeks trip to Mauritania
mainly held in the Adrar and
Banc d'Arguin regions.

Ciao Luca!
Allora sei tornato!
Bellissima questa immagine dalle trame finissime e con un sapiente gioco di linee, luci ed ombre.
Il titolo e la nota hanno l'originalità a cui ci hai già abituati!

Ciao Luca ... and what a beautiful title that deserves some points extra, if we could give them away for just this :) I am a big fan of "color in color" versions and I love to see how the shadows play and add the necessary dynamics. Interesting that there is still life in the sand and how the little trees fight and stand there all green. Beautiful indeed, excellent work. Have a good night, Barbara.

Hi Luca,
Good to see you back, hope you had a nice trip. Your first new entry looks impressive, you fasination for the desert really shows her and in combination with your good eye you reallt created a very good photo. The patterns from the dunes in front, the bushes on the slopes, it fits all perfectly in this image.

Ciao Luca, Welcome back from no doubt a lovely trip. I am glad you start your new series with a desert shot. I love this work a lot. There is something very exotic, sensual, lonely, poetic and nostalgic about these shots and this one contains a lot of beauty in it. Extraordinary how these little trees manage to exist and grow. A beauty! Sabine

Hi Luca, this is again a fantastic image. I love to see the world through your eyes. I'll not spend time looking after all the superlatives this image deserves, I'll just thank you for sharing your vision which I appreciate so much. In my favorites.

Hi Luca,
It is really like the trees and their shadows are drawing Chinese letters in the sand. The toning is just great and I see you'll be pleasing us with more of your work on Mauretania. Looking forward to it!
Greetings, Dennis

Hi, Luca. I like how the ripples on the sand in the foreground make it look like the sea. This contrasts with the smooth surface of the dune behind. Amazing to see vegetation growing in the sand like this. It looks like the border between the desert and a place where vegetation still grows. The play of lights and shadows is fantastic.
Buona festa di Natale e auguri per l'anno nuovo.
