[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A part of the old district of Mopti city in central Mali. Mopti is an important trade centre at the confluence of the Niger and Bani rivers. The mosque is built of mud and straw in the traditional Sahelian style but is actually not very old, only since the 1930's.
Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Howdy Gert!
Interesting place, very interesting perspective. Original take.
Regards!

I wonder how the place has changed since the 80s. Great shot, it really situates the mosque well in the surrounding environment.

Hej Gert,
Typical 1930´s functional buildings. Is that building materials along the river? Another fine photo!

Hello gert,

aaaah, Mopti !
I like your picture ! Elle me rappelle des souvenirs de mon passage, rapide, ā Mopti, que je n'ai pas eu vraiment le temps de visiter...
I'll back

Hi Gert, For a long time I have wanted to go to Mali. Most particularly to see the mud brick architecture. The example in your image is particularly striking. The colours I guess are an artifact of scanning an old slide (the challenges of which I'm too familiar with). I see that the water in front is still and wonder whether a lower POV could have achieved a good reflection of the mosque. cheers, Steve

Very nice composition. Great lines and textures.
Is this place really so yellow? It seems so surreal compared to my snow-filled place in Canada...LOL

Olá Gert, fascinating exotic place, amazing architecture. Nice general view from a distance with people spread around in their daily life business. Nice to see your scanned collection from Mali/1982.
Best regards,
ricardo
