We were travelling from Mopti to Timbuktu by public 4x4 (14 persons in a 7-seat vehicle :) ). The landscape was flat and everything looked the same, and we weren't expecting to see anything other than savanna and semi-desert. But when we turned north in Douentza these fabulous cliffs appeared at the horizon. This is taken a few kilometers north of Douentza when the cliffs were becoming cleare and less hazy.
The picture isn't perfectly sharp, for some reason, but it brings back nice memories for me and I think the landscape is beautiful, so I still wanted to share it. I tried USM with lots of different settings but I didn't get any satisfactory results.

It's really interesting landscape.
I think the photo has more problems with low contrast (especially for rocks in the distance) rather than sharpness. Maybe there was too much dust on the road and it created some hazy look. I have tried to to make some changes to the photo - check out the workshop.

Very nice interesting landscape and colors. The workshop Linask did was very useful, I just didnt have time before to try.
Thanks for sharing this one.

I think it is perfectly ok to post a shot that isn't 100% sharp, i have done it a couple of times as well.
Specially when it is a shot like this, i can imagine how special a feeling it must have been to travel this legendary route to Timbuktu, surely a moment worth to remember and share.

There's a softness and haziness here that makes it look as though you took this through the car windscreen, and I imagine that the movement of the vehicle can't have helped the sharpness either.
I don't think it's a huge problem though.
I like how the track leads the eye towards the distant rock formations, it looks an amazing landscape.
The brightness could do with being toned down a bit, especially along the horizon, and I also think a boost to saturation and contrast would improve the shot.

This scene stands out for me in your gallery because it looks so Australian, I do not know Africa so what came to my mind is something I can refer to and it's definitely the Aussie Outback. I like this nice scene with perspective and this superb warm glow from the ground, it's even better in Linas' WS.
Have a nice day,

Hi Simon, this shot has fabulous colours and great scenery. It makes me want to go there myself. Nice composition with the edges of the road leading the eye to the centre of the frame and the main subject - the rock pillars.
