Visiting a malian friend near Bandiagara, he invited us to meet a Pheule tribe standing for a moment in front of his own camp... The lady you can discover on this portrait (thanks to her) was at this time pregnant, and in order to remember our visit gave my name to her child, what is for me a huge gift! I also have to admit I am totally and since years facinated by her wild eyes...
(NB: pic taken with an old Sony DSC camera from 1995)

You shot very good portrait of a young lady from Mali. I like the composition little of center with not disturbing background. Great quality photo as also colors, light and sharpness.
Have a nice weekend,

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Wow, what an honor! You must have made quite an impression on her to have given your name to her child. I've always struggled with portraits, so I admire the talent from those that can achieve these types of results. You're right too, those eyes...there's something very soulful about her regard. A very pleasing and connected feeling that accompanies this shot. You've done well to convey a sense of human interaction with the viewer, and have done so with detail and accuracy. Bravo!

So you are almost the father of this young child to come! Eyes contact would have written Francine, and we have time to see the dark area around her mouth and the scars under her wide eyes.

there is no doubt that her eyes is the central focus point here. Excellent eye contact in this portrait, but also attractive colors and light. A picture that i wish i had taken, well done!

Great portrait! Impressive face and really fascinating eyes. I see you were there before the civil war. Perfect sharpness, nice vivid colors.
