[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Returning from the market in Djenne, these women walk for long hours early in the morning to come to Djenne to sell their vegetables and fruits, and walk back long hours to return to their villages, always carrying those baskets on their heads! We can be admirative of their hard life. Mali gave me an experience of what life really boils down to : get water, cultivate the fields to have something to eat for the day, try to sell products they cropped, go out for wood to prepare the fire to boil the pot, and live with the sun... and this unrelentlessly every day of the year and every year of their life... A lesson for us, often spoiled kids of the so called first world... something to meditate on;-)

Beautiful composition !
All is beautiful in you picture !
Congratulations

Eric, I like this shot; I like the bokeh here, the focus is on the boy?

Colourful clothes against an earthy rtone background and sky.
Very nice

Great shot Eric, the shallow DoF really invokes their movement away from the camera and back an existance we cannot quite comprehend. Believe it or not I wrote this before reading your note, so the image obviously works as intended.
Great work

A really evocative shot eric. The late afternoon light adds vividness to the colours. The picture is very much 'end of the day'. Thanks

Great photo eric! I like it a lot...
You show here a diferent way of lIFE. Very nice shot.
Well done.

Aamzing shot, Eric. DOF really makes this shot, but besudes a very good tecnique there is also a great composition with the two way march. Very very well done.

Ici l'image a un effet de relief .. Peut etre du a ce leger flou sur le dernier plan ce qui n'est pas pour me deplaire bien au contraire. Les teintes chaudes sont agreable a regarder et la composition bien faite.Bien vu Eric

Nice warm colours and a real dusty feel. I like the composition with people walking towards each other and greeting each other. I'd prefer a sharper focus on the closest group (the woman with the bra straps showing), but the dazzling smile on the lady coming towards us is what really makes this shot work for me. Her face is a mere blur yet her exuberance still jumps out at us. Nice shot.

This is really nice Eric. I like the softness created by what I guess is dust in the air. The muted colors work for me too. Just one thing, there is a dust spot over the person on the left, it really should have been cloned out, it draws way too much attention to my eye.

hi Eric, it is a beautiful scene, the colors are so beautiful. i like the composition here also aith all the poeple scattered in the frame.
but it is a bit too soft and too gray for me, see my workshop - this is my version - vivid and contrasty ;-)
anyway, it is really nice

Eric, I love all of your images, but this one struck me particularly with its striking colours its repetitive pattern and the interesting story it tells about the culture. Well done! I appreciate that you had to shoot fast to capture this moment in time, but two things I would change: straightening the horizon and cloning out the bit of intrusion on the right edge above the horizon.
