Photographer’s Note
My first visit in this world
Mom bozo with her very little baby in the village of fishermen of Sala in edge of the Niger River. In the bozo tradition, the mother and the child cannot leave the family box during 90 days after the childbirth. In my honor, this young mom introduced for the first time her baby at the external world. You can see that the mom is still tired but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough back space and place to be able to shot under good conditions
The skin of the African babies starts to pigment a few times after their birth but they are practically born from white color.

Salut Gaby, excellent shot and note.
there are great colors and a perfect light and focus.
i know that some doctors in Italy, that use not traditional medecin, but something other (i don't know what?!) told to the new moms to don't go outside home for the first 30 days with the baby!!!
i don't understand why....
thanks, ciao

Uhau Gabi,
What an emotional moment you give to us! The mom looks really tired, but still making an effort to stay good for this nice shot. How many days does the baby have? It looks borned just now! What an honor you had. Again, fantastic colours! Well done,
Merci,
Ricardo

This is such a privileged photograph Gaby - very special and so important to your whole work - so many people, so many aspects of life - a wonderful and touching image - such a tiny baby, it's impossible not to feel for the mother who looks quite unwell really. I hope it is just tiredness.
best wishes Kev

I am always amazed at the obvious itimacay that you share with the women in your photos. I dont know these women at all, but I have lived with village women in India for many years and I cannot think that their way of thinking is very different to the women that you portray. You must be very well respected there!
This is such a tender portrait, both mother and child look completly exhausted. Its a long journey into this world.

Gaby, this is another excellent photo of your great and incredibly fascinating photo gallery. I wish I was able to visit so many places and capture such unique moments of life. This picture is a real tribute to life that talks direcly to our heart. Technically, is a perfect shot with real, strong colors and a very successful framing. The focus and sharpness are also fantastic. Just perfect! Thanks for sharing!

Dear Gaby, wonderful tribute to the birth of a bozo baby, it must be a real privilege to be introduced to the newborn under the conditions... I find the mother indeed very very tired, hope it is just fatigue, temporarily. Her little baby in her lap is very moving, beautiful, tender and vulnerable.
Very memorable shot...

wow, a very evocative shot. the baby, so fragile, the mother too looks so weak, her eyes yellow like jaundis. it really must have been an honor... and an unforgetable experience.

Hi Gaby, The tradition of keeping new born baby in house and taking out is there in some places in India also, I personally know some people in West Bengal still maintain this tradition and we call it "Atur Ghar" - Where the baby and Mother stay for 1 month. And the 31st day the new born baby visits the world for the first time.
Technically this picture has very nice color, and a sharp eye of the lady.

Welcome to the new world !
Merci, Al (vert demain)
