Antsirabe, just south of Antananarivo, is Madagascar's most elegant city. It has a broad central avenue (pictured here) with some beautiful colonial architecture, such as the train station in the background here.
The rickshaw or 'pousse-pousse' (French for 'push-push') is an almost ubiquitous form of transport in Madagascar, especially in Antsirabe. Being white, it was impossible to walk around the city without being harassed by the drivers. But they're all charming, so I tipped generously. |
