The avenue of Baobabs is close to the town of Morondava. We hired a driver to take us there early one morning, and it was definately worth it. These magnificent trees store water in their trunk throughout the dry season, They can grow to over 7m in diameter and reach heights between 5m and 25m.
I scanned this from a print, but the quality is unfortunately not so good.

i like this one a lot wanda... the child and his/hers shadow, the bike and yes, the huge baobab look great... superb vertical compo and B&W in a strange but appealing texture...

buon week-end

korkut:)

:)tomorrow!

Hi
I am interesting it, because on BW this like old situation road in Indonesia (1950), just deferent on trees.

Why my point have been given not added?

Hi Wanda,

Magnificent this B&W picture. Love that you included walking boy and bike. The way you shot this picture seems to make the baobabs even more impressive.
Could have been taken in the now or years and years ago - timeless beauty.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Wanda,
A nice B&W compo with vertical framing a correct choice, strong light well managed, strong contrast and sharpness. People adding life and giving scale, making us realize how huge those trees are.

The quality may not be ideal, Wanda, but it gives the shot an old look and thereby creates timelessness, and there's a certain parched look that adds atmosphere. I like the composition that emphasizes how the tree towers over the people. Perhaps you could blur the upper left part of the sky where the grain is so coarse. Otherwise, really nice! Regards, Ken.

Hi Wanda,
This view in black and white is different from what we usually see on pictures showing the Avenue of Baobabs, and that's a great idea. What I also appreciate here are both people who gives a better idea of the baobab height.

Hallo my friend!
It is next interesting photo in your gallery. I very like nature. Interesting composition, interesting boy. The most interesting is baobabs!

Hello Wanda,
The scan might not be perfect, it still catched my eyes instantly. This one is well composed with the top of the tree going byond the top of the photo. The road with the biker and the young guy add depth as well as the persons give an idea how tall the Baobab is. I think in B&W this photo is even better then in color. Well done.

bonsoir wanda
une belle photo pour une idée de composition en noir et blanc parfaite.
merci pour le partage.
A+

Hi Dear Wanda,

This is AWESOME!!!
I really love it.

Composition and the subjects in this picture are FANTASTIC.

Well done & TFS,

Javad.

Hi Wanda,
This is a very spectacular and suggestive genre photo. I like the fascinating tree and the exotic atmosphere. Excellent vertical composition and good choice the B&W. Splendid shot!
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Wanda,
Very nice and punchy both graphically and "humanly". I understand your disappointment with the scan, but actually the low technical quality reinforces an antique mood that is wonderful. The only really annoying things is that the head of the cyclist confuses itself with the bg.
By putting the human figures below and leaving all the rest to the trees and sky you enhance the grandeur of the trees.
Funny how they call that earth trek an "avenue". :D
TFS, Regards, José.

Very impressive BW photo.
The trees are fantastic but the detail of the young boy make it a great photo

Hi Wanda,
Very interesting picture with nice texture. I like your POV and how you framed the picture. Good quality for a scanned photo.
TFS and have a nice Sunday
Aires

Hi Wanda,
this lives a lot by the b&w with the shadows and the fine structure of the leaves. POV and composition create a good presentation of this scene.

Hi Wanda, I actually like the grainy feel of this image, it suits the theme and the B & W. Ilford and other b & w film had a quality that is difficult to reproduce with digital, imo. A great composition, with the long shadows creeping over the path and the bicycle disappearing down it. A wistful, melancholy mood here. Excellent stuff. Regards,
Ryno

Hi Wanda,
The Baobabs are so unique, with that peculiar shape. The two persons in the frame act as a scale to show how big the tree is.

Hello Wanda,
I'm back on your gallery and still I fall on this baobab avenue. I really like those two pics. The high key effect that makes the sky completely burnt out, with high contrasts. This one is superior I think because of the presence of humans. The little kid and the BIKE:D But the shape of the Baobab, that's the master piece of this exquisite compo:D
Good work, as usual,

Marc

This is a really good photo Wanda -- I have to say that the photo-quality is sub-par, but the scene captured is quite good!

I get a definate 'standing tall' feel from this photo. the placement of boy-bike-tree is compositionally great. And though the quality is lacking - it may actually serve to give the photo a nice 'gritty' feel, the off yellow/green color tone helps also.

take care,
steve
