Photographer’s Note

The main road from Tana to Tulear villages is scattered with villages. Visitors are warmly welcomed, mainly by the children, who start a crazy run once they see the bus. This woman has let us in her house. On the left side of the entrance there was a place for the animals. The entrance is an empty room. A wooden ladder to the second floor lead to a space used as a kitchen with one table and a few plastic bottles sitting on it. On one of the corners a mattress. The families live in houses as large as this one. When the family gets too large to fit in one house, they build another one next to it.

I really like how you have positioned the door here. It is a bit of a bold presentation with the door centered (depening on what you consider the limits) that works. Your subjects are fascinating, the kids are obviously comfortable and well posed. The black behind them really makes me want to know what the home looks like, which is effective.
Lastly, the bucket is cool. I can't explain why, but I like it. TFS - I normally don't choose people pics, but I was struck by this one.

This is a really good photo aesthetically. Great composition, really good earth tone colors all the way through the photo. The subject is really interesting and the difference in the eyelines of the three people really add interst to the photo with one staring at the camera, one being shy and one looking somewhere else. Sharp and detailed also.

.....and yes, the bucket is cool. It anchors the lower left side and adds a little "poverty or working class" feel to the photo (for lack of better wording).
