Photographer’s Note
This picture is representing the theater of Lepcis Magna (or Leptis Magna) an ancient city along the Mediterranean sea, located near the modern city of AL KHUMS in Libya. The city began a trading port for the ancient people of Phenicia aroud 1000 BC, and then became part of the Roman province of Africa.
The immens archeologic site is at 200 km from Tripoli to the east.

A very nice place. I like this kind of photos. Nice perspective which alouds to see a large part of the area with the blue sky in the background. Clear and sharp too. Well captured!

I think you have captured the ruins very well. We don't have anything like this in Australia, so I try and view as many of these kinds of shots as I can. I also think its a very good scanned production from the photo. Thanks for sharing.

Une superbe photo qui doit, au talent de l'artiste bien sur, mais aussi de la préservation de ce site que j'imagine peu visité.
L'angle de vue, bien choisi, permet de démultiplier les colonnes.
Merci et Félicitations.

very well captured!
growing up near tripoli in the early 80s and having visited these sights many times, it certainly brings back memories! i remember i just loved the fact that there were virtually no tourists in these wonderful ruins and the great beaches of this beautiful country. can't help to wonder (with the recent changes in politics) what the future holds for the "splaj" (socialist people's libyan arab jamahirya) tfs!
p.s. i remember some friends who went to the french school in tripoli, wonder if your son was there at the same time. (it's a small world)
will be back tomorrow for smileys.

Bonjour Jean-Louis,
Les ruines que vous nous présentez-la me semblent dans un état de conservation hors du commun, avec de nombreuses colonnes encore en place. La photographie est aussi d'une qualité remarquable pour une photo scannée. Du très bon boulot, bravo!
