Photographer’s Note

Day I

I was there, it was sunset. I left Paris only a few hours ago, to join a one week trek in Libyan desert. I left the autumn and the grey weather (and ambience !) and I arrived in the sun, in the warmth.

I arrived precisely in Ghat, in the southern part of the country, close to Algeria. After the arrival, I met the group I was going to travel with and we left to the desert. Before reaching the camp, we had a small break to enjoy this sunset.

It was just the beginning...

Well I've been on this trek a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Your picture brought back some good memories. The lighting is magical and the composition works well.

The colours here are wonderful in the late light. The view is reminiscent of Monument Valley.

Bonjour Stéphane,
Voici des tonalités tantôt chocolat tantôt caramel qui ne sont pas pour me déplaire, et je ne pense pas être le seul à interpréter ainsi les couleurs de cette photo. Un premier plan croquant en pépites de chocolat et un arrière plan aux montagnes de caramel fondu, au beurre salé de préférence. Qui sait si ces monts appétissants n'ont pas connu un jour la fraîcheur d'un océan alors qu'elles y étaient captives...

Wow Stephane! What a picture! Really great red colors of the sun, it really fits to the ground. Very nice light and shadow on the rocks in front of the picture. The man ( If it's a man..?) in the picture gives us a idea how big the mountain on the back of him is, very important you captured him as a smooth detail. Well done, Regards Florian

Une destination peu fréquentée par le tourisme malgré que ce pays regorge de merveilleux sites naturels. Le choix du moment était propice pour cette perise de vue
On se croirait sur un sol Martien ... Ce sera peut-être le sort de la Terre d'ici quelques milliers d'années...

Ca a l'air fantastique et peu visité, je sens venir des images de trek comme pour le Vietnam.
Sois assuré que je vais suivre.
Ce paysage vaut bien certains paysages Américains par sa taille et ses couleurs.

Superb lighting to give great ambience to this remarkable scene. I like the shadows and light on the desert here. The rocks appear strewn about in the foreground and one can discern interesting shapes and graphics throughout. A powerful yet warm image. Well captured, Stephane.
