For most people taxi drivers are a necessary evil. They are hard negotiators, drive too fast and are often arrogant since they have a desirable job where most people are unemployed. They also have to be mechanics, since the vehicles they drive are just barely capable of running. They constantly have people try to pay less for the trip or try to ride free.
This group in the photograph were not too bad. They work in an area where the pavement ends and the roads get extremely bad. The area of the country we drove into was in bad shape and fuel and other vehicle resources limited. More on my trip upcountry in Liberia at: The road to Tapeta
