African road Photo

Photographer’s Note

When driving in Africa you have to be constantly prepared to meet animals on the road. A lot of patience and vigilance is necessary. This is from somewhere in central Lesotho from a long journey of southern Africa in 1984.

A truly not everyday photo! It's interesting that all these animals have enough food in this meagre landscape. Concerning traffic jam : Pole pole, as they say in East Africa! ;-))

Hello gert,
I like the line of these sheep form a diagonal making a good composition. Their line leads the eye to the far hill.

Many attractive lines in this picture, from the slopes and from the curving road with all the sheep (or goats or whatever...) The diagonal line from top left to bottom right is the most prominent here! Good scan and good colours!

Hej Gert,
the photo looks a little funny because of numerous goats (or what kind of animals are they?) everywhere! They seem to be an integral part of this landscape... like one more "live road" streaming along a real "static" road.
Curious detail: I see four main "triangles" of which this photo consists...

Hello Gert,
A large herd of a terrible number of sheep surprise me a lot. it would enhance impact greatly if the sheep in the foreground were toward you. Still this is a really amazing shot, the strong contrast is also pleasant.
