[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a safari drive in the Masi Mara we saw a good deal of lions -- almost a guarantee in this game park. While the big males were sleeping the females were the ones on lookout, tending to the cubs and keeping the pride intact. This female was extraordinary. You can see the power in her shoulders. I was about 30 feet away in the standard open-top Land Rover, trying to fire away (film camera) as quietly as I could, and used the widest aperture to blur the background and have her stand out. This was one of the last times I used film in any large capacity, but I liked the results. The scans of the slides are huge -- over 22MB.

Great shot and good idea to have used a wide aperture. You caught her intensity perfectly. Nice colors, too! TFS
