Photographer’s Note
Scientific Name:Equus burchelli
Home: Savanna grasslands of eastern Africa
Description: Sleek, plump, short-legged horse with broad black and white stripes, black nose, and a short, bristle-like mane that stands up
The plains zebra grazes two-thirds of the day on red oat grass, leaves, bark, roots and stems. Excellent hearing and vision help a zebra to keep alert for predators like lions and hyenas. Zebras stay in family groups of a stallion, or male, and several mares, but different families will come together in huge herds of hundreds of zebras. Herds will mingle with wildebeests, ostriches, and antelope while they graze, and even come to depend on them as additional protection against predators! Zebras are always busy and alert, and very noisy - - they make a lot of sounds!

I think Panos that the shot is a beauty with the fine posing of the zebras in combination with the fine landscape and the strong colours. I like that the one zebra looks directly to the camera.

A very beautiful shot, Panos. The colors are striking on this one, and I like how we can see the grand zebras from different angles, with the added treat of one looking into your lens. The sharp animal details against the slightly softer background work out great. Excellent note and info on technical details.

Very nice shot. I like the way we can see one head facing us and one head sideways. I also like the tails movement. The stripes and colors are great. Well seen!

In English, "gang" refers to a group of elk--or thugs. These must be thugs! Almost all animals have different names for their groups. I think Zebras are still herds. What strikes me here are the tones and colors--and your masterful depth of field. I really enjoy the background blurry, and that is an unusual choice. Nice work!
